The creation of an original hockey stick. A commemorative piece about the Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan.
We intersected different worlds. The classicism of hockey, the sobriety of German manufacturing and the imagery of the Japanese folklore.
We aimed for a stick with a unique touch and feel. Matching an unusual design with a dash of storytelling. Away from the flat landscape of the obvious and the expected..

Tiger Tora
In Japanese Tora means Tiger. A tiger tattoo meaning can vary, but at the core is about strength and power. Symbolises pride, independence and freedom.
This custom piece was produced in collaboration with the German brand TK, blending functionality and the wild spirit of the Japanese traditional tattoo.
“In Japan, tattoo art is Irezumi (入れ墨), meaning to insert ink. Irezumi derive inspiration from folklore and mysticism. Common artworks are animal shapes, Samurai motives or Dragons.
The influence of Irezumi
In the beginning, tattoos were associated with illegal foreigners or criminals. Gradually turned into badges of honor to take pride in. As time went by, they increased in ‘street popularity’ and influence.
In the original Irezumi process, tattoos are done manually with the use of a bamboo stick with a sharp needle attached to the end of it.”
